The keynote speaker, Mr. Jim Flynn, secretary-general of AFC-USA, presented the vision of the Ambassador for Peace movement and its current status across the United States and around the world. Following the presentation, a number of Ambassadors for Peace suggested specific projects that could be performed in the northern Virginia area to foster reconciliation. ![]() For participants the meeting was a valuable opportunity to network with like-minded people committed to peace. Questions from the audience to Mr. Flynn’s presentation showed that many were interested in becoming more active in the worldwide movement, particularly the visits to the Middle East. Because it is a center for high-tech industry and is close to Washington, DC, northern Virginia attracts many foreign immigrants who maintain influential contacts in the political and business circles of their home countries. Several such people attended this meeting, reminding all participants of our area’s special responsibilities toward the world. |
